Meet Mr Puddles

So if you read my babbling about where I've been and why I've been absent from blogging recently then you'll know we gots ourselves a lil' kitty.

LOL ignore Martins pants - at least they're clean...
Say hello to Mr Puddles.
AKA horrid little furball that bites my elbows and sleeps in the kitchen sink.

We didn't plan on getting a cat at all. We're only in a teeny flat (for the time being) so it made sense to wait until we moved into our own house to get a pet. But Mr Puddles found me and I just couldn't say no.

I was working in a particular street where I had quite a few customers (when I was collecting loan payments as a "debt collector"), and this adorable little cat followed me to every house, walking between my legs and nuzzling me. I let him accompany me and gave him some little cuddles. 'Cause, y'know, cat (!!!). When I went back to the car to make some phone calls and update the tablet he sat on my lap while I worked. He was pretty skinny and only looked a few months old but he seemed generally healthy enough and was so nice I assumed he was someones pet.

When the time came for me to drive away, I popped him onto the pavement and got back in the car. He jumped back in before I had a chance to get in myself! This happened a few times and it got to the point where he was hiding under my coats in the backseat trying not to go outside. So I walked him to the other end of the street and popped him down again when another car next to us opened their door. He jumped in and the driver picked him up by the neck and literally TOSSED him through the air onto the ground. He was petrified bless him, he ran and hid behind their front wheel and they started the engine. When I told them the cat was under the tyre they couldn't care less and started to move.

So I picked him up and took him home. I was absolutely not going to let him die on the street. I checked Facebook and lost cat pages for a week or so, and checked if he was microchipped. No one came forward, he wasn't chipped or neutered and he was very underfed. So we welcomed him into the flat and he's the happiest little guy ever.

He loves cheese and absolutely any food he can get his face into. He licks my ears while I sleep (gross). He bops you on the nose in the morning when he's ready for you to get up. Sitting in a cardboard box or a Sports Direct bag is his favourite thing. He loves playing hide and seek and "finding" me when I hide behind a piece of paper. He curls up next to me and naps while I work from home. He is an absolute terror trying to eat all my plants (fake and real). Christmas trees are a pillar of amazement with balls to knock off and roll around the floor ALL NIGHT. I haven't gone to the toilet in peace since we brought him home. And I literally love him soooo much.

Get used to his face, guys. You're going to be seeing a lot of him.

  2. Cats are more amazing than people think. I had a cat called Tinie for a while, but when my relationship went sour my ex decided to keep him... I then found Poppy, she was also a black cat and we took her in for the same reason! She used to snuggle up in bed beside me at night, but unfortunately I couldn't keep her - I cried for ages when we got rid of her, but we did manage to find her a really good home. Since then we've noticed more feral cats around our house (we live in the countryside) and I've coaxed one into being a bit more friendly - it used to run away but now it comes up to the fence for some food x

    1. Oh I'm so sorry you've had so much bad luck with cats :( A lot of my cats have died on the roads and it really is heart breaking. Hopefully you make friends with a little feral cat!! X

  3. Oh my gosh, I love him! He looks a lot like my little boy, Harley, who is black and white with huge white whiskers and only one white eyelash (he has other eyelashes, obvs, but they are black!) It's so nice that you took him in -it sounds like he really wanted to live with you! Some people can be so cruel to animals - it breaks my heart. He's lucky he found you! x www.aimeeraindropwrites.co.uk x

    1. Harley is such a sweet name for a cat! I like to think he wanted to come home with me, otherwise I just stole him haha! I just dread to think what might have happened to him if he'd stayed on the streets xx

  5. He is so adorable!

What a cute little story, I'm glad he's now in a happy little home and not on the streets, waiting to be injured by mean drivers.

I wish you the best of luck with him xx
